You are required to complete an RSA training course, provided by an approved training provider such as Job Trainer Australia, in order to sell, serve or supply alcohol in NSW.
IIn all states and territories of Australia, it is a legal requirement to hold a RSA certificate. This means that if you are employed in a role that involves the sale, service, or supply of alcohol, you are required to hold a current RSA certificate. This also includes Crowd Control personnel and anyone who provides same-day alcohol delivery.
The RSA training will equip you with the necessary knowledge and skills to serve alcohol responsibly and safely.
Please note that it's essential to enrol in the state where you intend to work as the unit of competency has been contextualised and approved for each individual state.

Interstate RSA Holders
From 1 Feb 2023 onwards:
➤ If a student has completed an approved interstate RSA training course within the previous 5 years from another Australian State or Territory and intends to work temporarily in NSW, they can now do so under the NSW legislation, without the need to undertake the NSW RSA Bridging unit.
➤ When they intend to move permanently to NSW, they must complete the NSW RSA Bridging course and hold an NSW Competency Card to continue working in NSW.
➤ Refer to the L&GNSW website for more information on the new pathway for interstate RSA workers to work in NSW and the NSW RSA Bridging course offered by L&GNSW.

This nationally recognised unit of competency describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to responsibly sell, serve or supply alcohol
The unit covers the following areas;
➤ Follow the principles of responsible service of alcohol.
➤ Assist customers to drink within appropriate limits.
➤ Assess alcohol affected customers and identify those to whom sale or service must be refused.
➤ Refuse to provide alcohol.
Responsible practices must be undertaken wherever alcohol is sold, served or supplied, including where alcohol samples are served during on-site product tastings.
This unit therefore applies to any workplace where alcohol is sold, served or supplied, including all types of hospitality venues, packaged liquor outlets and wineries, breweries and distilleries.

What you need to know about the assessment:
➤ All assessments are conducted as open book assessment (this means you can refer to your Learner Guide, course resources or review link contained in each assessment question.
➤ You must satisfactorily complete all tasks, independently and written answers must be in your own words.
➤ No marks or grades are allocated for assessment tasks. The outcome of the task will be Satisfactory or Not Yet Satisfactory.
➤ In the event of a Not Yet Satisfactory result you will be given feedback and the opportunity to resubmit.

➤ Skill assessment - Observations
OVERVIEW - ASSESSMENT PROCESS
Srudents will be expected to complete the following requirements during the learning and assessment.

➤ Video Scenario which requires student response.
★ We provide the video roleplay, the customer and the setting.
Each student will undertake a Pre-Enrolment Review or LLND short test before enrolling to help confirm the proposed course is suitable. It will provide valuable information about an individual's existing skills and knowledge, language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills.
Stage 1 Assessment - Knowledge - Multiple Choice & Free text
➤ Following each of the modules, you are required to complete a multiple-choice & short answer assessment.
➤ Each module assessment comprises of a combination of multiple-choice questions such as drag and drop, fill in the missing word. In addition, there are a number of short answer questions where you will be required to source, read and interpret information and answer in your own words.
➤ All questions must be answered correctly within each module in order to proceed.
➤ Once you have satisfactorily completed Assessment 1 – you will move onto Assessment Stage 2
Stage 2 Assessment – Skills Evidence
➤ You will be provided with a video scenario of a customer requesting the service of alcohol.
** We provide you with a video roleplay, customer and licensed premises. You are required to video your response to the customers request
You can record your response to the scenario either through your training account or on your phone and upload it to your training account.
FEEDBACK AND COMPLETION
➤ Please allow two (2) working days for assessment.
➤ You will be provided with 3 attempts for each assessment question, if you exceed 3 attempts you will be offered feedback. You will be required to review the learning again to reattempt the question.
➤ Feedback from your assessor for the free text questions and video roleplay will be provided through the learner portal. You will be required to review the feedback and modify your response before resubmitting.
➤ Please note - Your work will only be assessed by a JTA assessor upon your submission of your Video Roleplay.
➤ Competency Conversation - if a trainer and assessor needs to clarify any aspect of your submission, they will contact you to discuss.
Once an assessor deemed you as competent for this unit, you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment

The Liquor Amendment (Miscellaneous) Regulation 2022 makes it easier for interstate RSA holders to temporarily work in NSW as soon as they arrive which will boost the number of hospitality workers available right across NSW.
