What is the WA Approved Manager & Licensee Course for Producers & Wholesalers (52863WA)?

The WA Approved Manager Certification is an essential qualification for hospitality professionals in Western Australia. Whether you're working toward becoming a duty manager, unrestricted approved manager, or licensee, this certification demonstrates your competency in managing legislative responsibilities for liquor sale and service. Job Trainer Australia delivers this training online, approved by the WA Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety.

Are you an LGIRS approved online training provider?

Yes. Job Trainer Australia is officially approved by the Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety (LGIRS) to deliver Approved Manager training in Western Australia. You can verify our approval on the official registered training organisations list. Our nationally recognised qualification ensures your certification is valid across Australia, giving you the flexibility to advance your hospitality career wherever opportunities arise.

How do I become an Approved Manager in Western Australia?

To become an Approved Manager in WA, you must complete the 52863WA course (MLPLCA001 + MLPLCA003) through an LGIRS-approved training provider like Job Trainer Australia. Prerequisites include holding a valid RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certificate. After completing your training and receiving your Statement of Attainment, you can apply for your Approved Manager ID card through LGIRS. This certification is mandatory under the Liquor Control Act 1988 for anyone managing licensed premises in Western Australia.

Is this course suitable for bars, hotels, clubs and restaurants?

Yes. Our WA Approved Manager course is ideal for managers and supervisors working in bars, pubs, hotels, nightclubs, restaurants, cafes, bottle shops, liquor stores, sporting clubs, RSL clubs, casinos, and any licensed venue in Western Australia. Whether you're a bar manager in Perth, a hotel supervisor in the Pilbara, or a club manager in the South West, this certification ensures you meet LGIRS requirements and can legally manage liquor service operations.

Approved Manager vs RSA — what's the difference?

While RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) is required for anyone serving alcohol in Western Australia, the Approved Manager certification (MLPLCA001) is specifically for those in management and supervisory roles. RSA covers responsible service practices, while Approved Manager training focuses on legislative compliance, venue management, and supervising staff under the Liquor Control Act 1988. You need RSA before you can complete your Approved Manager certification.

Is this a nationally recognised hospitality qualification?

Yes. Your Statement of Attainment for MLPLCA001 — Manage Legislative Responsibilities for the Sale, Supply and Service of Liquor is a nationally recognised qualification under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). This means your certification is acknowledged by employers and licensing authorities across Australia, providing career mobility throughout the hospitality industry.

Where do I get a police clearance for the WA Approved Manager application?

Apply online at www.ncaust.com.au. National Clearance Australia is an ACIC Accredited Body. Choose the Employment check ($59 inc. GST) and enter code AM10 on the payment page for 10% off; most results are issued within 24 hours. Your clearance must be no more than 3 months old when you lodge with LGIRS.

What is an Approved Manager red card in Western Australia?

The red card is the Approved Manager ID card issued by LGIRS under the Liquor Control Act 1988 (WA). Licensed venues must have an Approved Manager present whenever liquor is sold or supplied. What training do I need before applying for the red card?

For an unrestricted Approved Manager card (any licensed venue) you must complete MLPLCA001 through the Course in Management of Licensed Premises. For a restricted card (club, club restricted and occasional licences only) a nationally accredited RSA is sufficient. Job Trainer Australia (RTO 45742) delivers MLPLCA001 online.

How long does the Approved Manager red card last?

The Approved Manager card is valid for 5 years. Your MLPLCA001 Statement of Attainment does not expire, but the card must be renewed before it lapses. If it expires, you must submit a new application and pay the full new-application fee.

Which Australia Post outlets accept the Approved Manager application?

Only participating Australia Post outlets in Western Australia that can take your card photo. You cannot lodge at a post office in another state or territory.

Does the Approved Manager card work outside Western Australia?

No. The WA Approved Manager card is valid in Western Australia only. Other states and territories have their own licensee and manager approval schemes.
